Bosch MRC23EVSK Variable Speed Router Pack Review

The Bosch MRC23EVSK Router Pack offers quite a lot in terms of plunge and fixed-base routing. In order to cover the widest range of jobs involving the routing of plastic and wood, the MRC23EVSK router pack has every “base” covered, so to speak. In particular, the router does its best when it comes to giving you control over the router.

The more control you have over the device, the more you can do with it because you’re not limited by its excessive shaking or power. This is all thanks to its trigger-controlled power system that includes a power switch for both types of router bases. This gives you absolute control on how the router does its business, resulting in results that you’ve intended.

Microfine Precision and Powerful Variable-Speed Motor

The Bosch MRC23EVSK also includes an Afterlock Microfine feature that allows bit-depth adjustment with magnified precision. To be more specific, the adjuster’s continuous depth range is an inch to 0.625 of an inch, so you’re not limited to being forced to overshoot or undershoot your router to get an estimated result. You want your results to be exactly as you envisioned them with a router that works in accordance to your goals rather than you accommodating its limitations.

Meanwhile, the MRC23EVSKrouter also features a router speed range of 10,000 RPM to 25,000 RPM. This is notable because certain other routers fall short in this range by 1,000 RPM to 2,000 RPM. This indeed show how much more powerful of a router it is, with none of that speed wasted with its precision focus.

More Control in Either Base

The 2.3 HP motor’s power and speed isn’t wasted at all partly because it’s one of the more precise routers out there and partly because it utilizes the Constant Response Circuitry feature. This innovation allows your router to ensure consistent speed from your router even when under load.

Meanwhile, you can do multiple-pass operations or repetitive plunge cuts or fixed based routing on similarly sized work pieces at a consistent depth and size every time with its adjustable turret. You’ll be doing your routing with the speed of an assembly line factory thanks to this turret.

It also helps considerably that the Bosch MRC23EVSKhas torque mitigating features and ergonomic handles so that you can do your routing without taking too much of a toll on your arms, fingers, hands, and overall stamina.

Bosch MRC23EVSK Review

The great thing about the Bosch MRC23EVSK is that it’s smooth, stable, and dependable. It works like a dream. I can do so many things sooner, faster, and more effectively with this device than any other comparable router out there. Specs only go so far when judging a router; the proof is in the pudding.

When I used the MRC23EVSK, I got so many woodworking projects done. One after the other, I kept on making cabinets, fixing furniture, and doing plunge cuts for my metalwork sink. Everything is easier with the Bosch MRC23EVSK. I definitely give this wonderful piece of equipment a solid 9.5 out of 10.

Things to Improve

Although it’s acknowledged that the highly rated Bosch MRC23EVSKmachine is solid and performs its routing tasks excellently, it does have its flaws. It needs improvement in terms of under-the-table dust collection. It lacks dust collection but instead has dust exhaust ports, meaning cleanup solely rests upon the operator after the routing has been done.

It has an attachment (sold separately) for dust collection, but it’s not close enough to capture every last speck of dust, so it’s not very efficient at its job. The micro-fine adjustment also suffers from complaints regarding complete height adjustment range from above the table. The LEDs aren’t that efficient either.

Conclusion

While the Bosch MRC23EVSK is flawed, it’s not fundamentally flawed. Many of the complaints leveled against it were from operators who were used to doing one thing and isn’t open to alternative ways of handling a routing operation. If you ignore the outlier complaints, the MRC23EVSK earns its 9.5/10 rating in more ways than one.

It has the power to spare, its speed is as controllable as the speed of your car, and you’re not wasting any of its power and speed because you’re in full control of it due to its multiple control features ranging from the Constant Response Circuitry (that ensures consistent speed under load) to its easy and precise adjustment no matter the plunge setting you’ve chosen.

Don’t forget to look at all the other best wood routers out there.
